The Rolls-Royce Boat Tail may be the most expensive new car ever ‹ Previous Next › COMMENTSSHARE YOUR THOUGHTS See More Videos There very few things in the automotive world which cost astronomical amounts and hardly serve any purpose; most of those are objects of art. It can be said that the this 1/4 scale replica of an engine – which is not functional – is an object art. Modeled after the Bugatti Chiron’s engine, it’s painstakingly accurate and crafted with such precision that at first you’d mistake it for the real deal. Made mostly of pewter and stainless steel, it measures 44 centimeteres long and 22 centimetres high. Priced at US$9,365 – about $12,000 Canadian – it took Amalgam Collections, the manufacturer, 2,500 man hours to develop the model and another 220 hours to build. The model has over 1,000 individual parts and was designed closely with Bugatti’s design team to recreate the mastery involved in producing this scale model of the original, 1,500-horsepower monster of an engine. Unlike a modern hypercar’s hybrid powertrain, the Chiron’s engine is all mechanical.
