Vaughn Gittin Jr. just drifted the entire 20-km Nurburgring

first_imgFormula Drift champion Vaughn Gittin Jr. has just drifted the entire Nurburgring Nordschleife, for reasons we can only assume have to do with him being an absolute madman. When we last checked in with Gittin, we were riding shotgun with him around a very tiny patch of tarmac at an air show, the lack of space making the donuts he was pulling off quite the spectacle. The 20-plus kilometres of the the German track famously nicknamed “The Green Hell” gave him plenty more asphalt to let his Mustang, and its 900 horsepower, stretch its legs, as video from Ford Performance shows. The track is incredibly difficult for even expert drivers when they’re driving it straight, never mind when tackling its 154 corners in a continual slide sideways like Gittin was.Sure, he dips his tires off the pavement a few times, and he apparently went through several sets of rubber in the practice for this stunt, but that doesn’t make any of it less impressive. Our jaws are still in dropped position. We encourage all readers to share their views on our articles using Facebook commenting Visit our FAQ page for more information. Arsene Wenger: We won’t sell Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona

first_imgArsenal manager Arsene Wenger has claimed that there “is no chance” that he will sell influential midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona.Rumours have been rife throughout the summer that Fabregas may be tempted by a move back to Spain and the club where he started his career.Italian giants Milan have also been strongly linked with a move for the Arsenal captain, who scored three Premier League goals last season. The Gunners will be vying to win their first trophy in four years over the next nine months, and Wenger is adamant that he will not be allowing any more key players to leave.“Do you really think we sell our players one day before the championship starts, players who are basic players of the team? There is no chance,” the French coach told the Press Association.“You cannot stop people from having a lot of creative imagination during their sleepless nights, but that does not mean we will do it.” Wenger himself has resisted the advances of the likes of Real Madrid in the past, and the Gunners boss has stated that he is a firm believer in the need to honour a contract.“I believe that in life you are committed to clubs with contracts, and in no contract is the colour of your blood described,” he added, referring to Fabregas and the speculation linking him with a move to Spain.“I am more committed than ever to my club, not only this season, but since I have arrived here.“We are at the beginning of a new season now, and it is important that everybody focuses – me, Fabregas, everybody else – just on being successful for the club we love, and the best way we can do that is to do well.”Arsenal begin their Premier League campaign at Goodison Park against Everton on Saturday. Sourav Ganguly to get stand named after him at Eden Gardens

first_imgWith the army giving the go-ahead, the decks have been cleared for naming six Eden Gardens stands after eminent personalities involved with the game in the state including former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly and late cricket administrator Jagmohan Dalmiya, a Cricket Association of Bengal official said here on Thursday. The four others stands will be christened after ex-cricketer Pankaj Roy and former CAB presidents B.N. Dutt, A.N. Ghosh and Snehasnshu Acharya.Disclosing this, CAB president Sourav Ganguly said: “We received the permission from the defence authorities today (Thursday). We will complete the work as early as possible”.The proposal had been passed in the CAB working committee meeting last year. But with the army being the custodian of the Maidan, where the Eden Gardens is located, its permission is mandatory before any such decisions can be implemented.last_img read more
